Dave Inman completes Bath Half for Help for Heroes

A beautiful, bright and crisp Sunday morning last weekend (Sunday 7 March) saw me getting up and leaving the house and driving into the city of Bath for what has become an annual event – the Bath Half Marathon.

Each year I drag my body around the 13 mile course and each year I wish I'd done more training and at the end always promise to train harder the following year!

This year, as every year, the crowds were magnificent in their support, offering encouragement around the two lap course, with cheering, bands, sweets, banners, refreshments and access to the same peoples' houses for emergency pee breaks!

I always feel that irrespective of how your race is going, the crowds will always get you to the finish, come what may!

This year, I also had the added incentive of running on behalf of the British Karate Federation’s chosen charity - Help for Heroes - a truly admirable cause, regardless of your political or moral beliefs. This charity is helping to support the men and women of our Armed Forces who may have suffered physical or psychological trauma just doing their day jobs!

I consider myself privileged to have served  in the Army for 22 years. Now I am privileged to be the UK Sports Injury Specialist for the BKF and so, if I could support and promote both the BKF and H4H in any way, I would. I have been extremely grateful for the support I have received from friends, family and the karate fraternity and as I write this, we have raised around £1,850 with a bit more to come.

So, as I crossed the Finish Line in 1:52:21 along with around 11,000 other runners, it was with a sense of pride that, apart from giving friends a laugh at my stiff legged walk over the next 3 days, I would also be able to pass contributions to a very worthwhile charity, Help for Heroes.

So, to all those who donated, a HUGE THANK YOU and if there are any of you reading this who would still like to contribute, here's the website:
