By now most of you will know Dave Inman, the BKF Osteopath. Dave, who is based in Oldfield Park, Bath, is a 7th Dan, and has been one of Mick Billmans' students for the last 38 years. He has worked for the BKF for some years now, specialising in treating our athletes during, and after, a competition. On occasions Dave has also been involved with the England Karate Team. He is highly respected by anyone who has received treatment from him and is a thorough professional.

Dave was recently notified that he has been selected to be part of the Central Medical Team at the London Olympics and/or Paralympics in 2012. The Central Medical Unit is a multidisciplinary team, which will provide medical support to athletes and support staff from around the world during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Many osteopaths applied to be part of the team but only 24 have been selected nationwide. This is the first time that osteopathy has been included in the provision of host medical services at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. They will be working within a multi-disciplinary team of sports medicine doctors, physiotherapists, radiologists, podiatrists and sports massage therapists, using referrals to other disciplines when and where necessary. This is an incredible opportunity for osteopaths to work with elite athletes at the highest level of sport. It is even more exciting to be able to do this at the world's most prestigious sporting event and to work with the UK's best sports medicine clinicians.

As Dave said, "This is a massive honour. To be part of this event at any level is tremendously exciting, but the chance to work with the best athletes from around the world is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm really excited about working in the medical team with some of the best sports care practitioners from the UK and abroad."

The BKF and its' members would like to offer their heartiest congratulations to Dave on being selected for this most prestigious of events.
